RingCentral (NYSE: RNG) is a leading provider of global enterprise cloud communications, video meetings, collaboration, and contact center solutions. We break down the barriers between people and platforms, allowing the world to connect from anywhere, on any device, and any mode.
Our infrastructure is a massive, high-load ecosystem—processing billions of minutes of voice and video traffic and petabytes of data across a sophisticated multi-cloud architecture (AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure and private Data Centers). As we integrate cutting-edge AI into our core communication bundle, the security of our thousands of micro-services is not just a priority—it is the foundation of our customers' trust.
At RingCentral, Security Architecture is not a "check-the-box" function; it is a high-impact engineering discipline that ensures our global telecom platform remains resilient, compliant, and ahead of emerging threats.
Role Mission
In an ecosystem of thousands of micro-services across AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure and On-Prem, "perfect" security is impossible. Your mission is to find the critical pressure points. You will move beyond "paper security" to design and implement pragmatic, high-load security standards that actually work for hundreds of engineering teams. You are the technical bridge between deep-dive incident response and long-term strategic roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities
Pragmatic Governance & Standards: Define and socialize "Guardrail" security standards for production and R&D. These must be achievable guidelines that respect team resources and the high-load nature of our telecom/AI stack, ensuring security is baked into the CI/CD pipeline, not bolted on;
Automated Compliance Monitoring: Technically lead the development of automated systems to measure "Guideline vs. Reality." You will identify gap areas through data and use these insights to build a data-driven security roadmap that matures our SOC;
Strategic Risk Ownership: Own the Global Security Risk Register. Collaborate with AppSec, Engineering, and Ops to identify critical infrastructure gaps. You will evaluate these risks, prioritize them in the roadmap, and act as the technical voice to the CISO for high-threshold escalations;
Incident Leadership & Forensics: Act as the Technical Lead during major security incidents. Beyond immediate response, you will drive the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to ensure lessons learned are directly converted into permanent infrastructure improvements;
High-Impact Project Delivery: Spearhead the implementation of most-critical security measures across our product-hosting infrastructure. You will be the technical "Owner" of Tier-1 Security Operations projects;
Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer: Level up the collective intelligence of the SecOps and AppSec teams. You will ensure that those tasked with daily monitoring fully understand the intent and mechanics of the guidelines you develop.
Technical Landscape
We operate a massive, multi-cloud (AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure, On-Prem) micro-services architecture. You will guide the application of a world-class security stack including but not limited to:
Edge & Identity: CloudFlare, Proofpoint, Imperva
Visibility & Analytics: Splunk, Looker, StreamSecurity
Workload & Endpoint: CrowdStrike, Wazuh
Vulnerability Identification: TwistLock (Prisma Cloud), Qualys
The Ideal Candidate Profile
The "Real-World" Architect: You understand that a secure but non-functional telecom application is a failure. You know how to balance "Zero Trust" with "High Availability";
Data-Driven: You are comfortable using Splunk or BigQuery/Looker to find patterns in noise. You use data to justify your roadmap;
Cloud-Native Native: Deep experience in Kubernetes, container security, and the nuances of cross-cloud (GCP/AWS/OCI/Azure) networking;
Communicator: You can explain a complex technical vulnerability to a developer in the morning and present a risk mitigation budget to a Director in the afternoon.
