We are looking for a Performance QA Engineer with a strong analytical mindset to design, execute, and continuously improve performance testing practices across our system and its services. This role is ideal for a strong middle or senior-level engineer who is comfortable working to guard our system’s performance, collaborating with DevOps, Development and Management teams, and turning performance data into clear, actionable insights.
You will play a key role in ensuring system reliability, scalability, and stability under real-world and peak-load conditions.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, maintain, and extend performance tests for backend services and APIs
Take ownership of existing performance test suites, including inherited, internally or externally developed tests, ensuring their stability, relevance, and documentation
Actively participate in knowledge transfer and onboarding of performance tests from other teams
Analyze performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and provide clear, data-driven recommendations
Collaborate closely with Developers, DevOps, and SRE teams to diagnose performance issues and validate fixes
Prepare and maintain clear test documentation, test plans, and performance reports in Atlassian Wiki
Monitor application and infrastructure metrics during tests and in production-like environments
Contribute to improving team-wide performance testing standards, approaches, and tooling
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong hands-on experience with performance testing of distributed systems
Solid understanding of SDLC and quality assurance practices
Proven experience in data analysis, interpreting metrics, logs, and trends
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable conclusions
Experience working with APIs (REST; SOAP is a plus)

Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers
